
Salma Hayek Pinault, born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jamesenez , on September 2, 1966, is an American and Mexican actor and producer. Her film career began in Mexico which she played in the television drama Teresa (1989-1991) as well as the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995), which was a huge success and earned her an Ariel Award nomination. With roles in films such as Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) and Dogma (1999) In 1999, she quickly made her mark in Hollywood. Hayek's portrayal as Frida painter in Frida (2002) in which she also directed was what produced by Hayek, made Hayek the first Mexican actress to win the Academy Award [6]. This also earned her the Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award as well as British Academy Film Award nominations.
